[New Restaurant] Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot (Burnaby) 新張營業 - 小肥羊 (本拿比)

Summer has left us in the bitter cold but well-known franchise Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot opened a new branch in Burnaby -- just in time to get Vancouverites through the winter.

The chain made its British Columbia debut in Richmond’s Lansdowne Mall and currently has two restaurants in the province after the recent grand opening. This is great news for fans of the popular brand that live in or closer to the Burnaby area.

Since the brand’s first establishment in Inner Mongolia back in 1999, over 300 of its restaurants have sprouted up in Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Canada, the United States, and throughout the rest of China. It has won honors such as the “Top 500 Enterprises of China” and “China’s Most Valuable Brands.”

The thing that makes Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot special is its broth, which simmers flavors into the food so that dipping sauces are rendered unnecessary. However, condiments are still provided on a small table, presumably for those who cannot do without dipping sauces.

Like it hot? Get your lips numb with the spicy broth, packed full of whole peeled garlic and flaming red chili peppers.  Those not so into spicy food can stick with the original broth – infused with 36 spices and ingredients. Can’t choose between the two? Then have both. The pot can be split down the middle to hold original broth on one side and spicy broth on the other. Those that are health-conscious would perhaps be glad to know that Little Sheep’s broths are prepared from scratch everyday with no MSG or preservatives added.

Good news for people who don’t eat meat, Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot is vegetarian-friendly, offering a vegetarian mushroom soup base. The all-you-can-eat order sheet boasts a wide variety of high quality meat, including lamb, beef, pork, and chicken. There is also a long list of seafood and vegetables.

Little Sheep’s soup base has made an impression in many parts of the world and its Richmond and Burnaby restaurants will be there to satisfy hot pot cravings as the temperature continues to dip.
